Determination

The other night I watched the finale of the talent show The X Factor when Alexandra Burke was crowned the winner. Although I would have preferred JLS to win as I think they're cute lads, I was glad Alexandra took the title as I admired her determination as well as her talent.

Alexandra auditioned for the series three years ago but didn't get through to the final stage of the completion when the acts got to perform live. Although she was devastated at the time, she didn't give up on her dreams. During the series, she ended up meeting two of her pop idols: Mariah Carey and Beyonce Knowles.

I read in another article that Alexandra won a competition to meet Beyonce backstage in her concert. After meeting Beyonce, she was determined to trust in herself and in her dreams. She even vowed that one day she was going to sing with Beyonce. In the finale, her dream did come true and she got to sing with Beyonce.

During the series, the judges commended Alexandra for having such a positive attitude. She appeared to be loving every moment and feeling very grateful for being on the show.

It's quite fitting really that her first single is called "Hallelujah." Hallelujah indeed for fulfilling your dream! According to the lyrics, the song is about the joy of sex. I guess God created sex for us to enjoy so why not sing Hallelujah while we're at it. ;-)

Thank you, Alexandra, for reminding me how important it is to trust in myself and in my dreams, which always come true.
