Self-Realisation

I believe my life's purpose is Self-Realisation. What do I mean by Self-Realisation?

Self-Realisation means waking up to who I really am as the True Self and living as the True Self.

Waking up to the True Self

For me this occurred when I realised there is only one Self that we all share. That Self is my true self that has always existed and will always exist. The True Self is inexhaustible love, power and wisdom. I have experienced this Self as Light which a friend has reproduced in the fractal above. I also refer to this Self as the The One, My Beloved or the Infinite Self.

I also realised that the One/Self is all there is and there is nothing outside the Self. Thus, all experiences, all things, all realities originate from or are emanations of the Self. Therefore, no matter how much energy I draw from Self, it makes no difference as Its resources are limitless.

The idea of nothing outside the Self goes against my human programming that had mesmerised me to interpret all experiences as occurring outside the self or separate from self. When I became Self-Realised I realised all experiences arise out of Me, my True Self.

Living as the True Self

This means living with the constant awareness that all realities come from the one Self. Let's say I'm not feeling well. To reverse the effects all I have to do is remember who I am as Inexhaustible Love in every moment and that Love is the source of all I am being. Love then transmutes the reality of sickness into Love, which is translated in the human realm as a feeling of well-being.

I find the following verse from the Bible an excellent daily reminder.

"This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118: 24
The LORD refers to the Self, therefore, every moment of that day comes from Self.

Last night I watched the film The Matrix about a group of "rebels" who show computer hacker, Neo, the true nature of reality and how to escape from the "Matrix." The Matrix represents the system of control and rules that keep humans bound in limited thinking and expressions. The leader of the rebels believes Neo is the one who will both save humanity from the Matrix and help humanity in the battle against the machines in the future. Unfortunately for Neo, Agent Smith and the other agents who are working for the Matrix are determined to maintain the status quo and doing all they can to eliminate Neo.

Although Neo doesn't believe he is the One, he still wants to escape the Matrix. As he starts to believe more and more in himself he finds himself gaining more power and can even dodge bullets just like the agents. In one scene, Neo is being chased by some agents and is calling to his friends outside the Matrix to guide him. He says: "Mr. Wizard, get me the hell out of here."

I believe the "wizard" refers to the movie The Wizard of Oz, where Dorothy is stuck in a dream-like reality and desperate to get home. She is advised that the Wizard of Oz might be able to help her. On her way to the Land of Oz she meets the lion, tin man and scarecrow who believe they are lacking in courage, a brain and a heart respectively. Dorothy suggests that they travel with her to Oz and she's sure the Wizard will grant their wishes. It turns out the Wizard can't help them. All four of them come to realise that they already have within them what they're looking for.

Similarly, when Neo asks his friends outside the Matrix to guide him out of the Matrix, he ends up being shot and dies. It was only when Trinity, one of the rebels, tells him how much she loves him that he's resurrected and Neo fully realises his nature as the One (which is an anagram of Neo). As the One, he no longer needs to dodge the bullets as he can see that the bullets are part of him. In other words, Neo has realised that all experiences come from him which he can control. Neo no longer needs to fight Agent Smith but simply transmutes him into Light. At the end of the film, Neo chooses to stay in the Matrix to help rescue others stuck within the Matrix.

I believe Self-Realisation is the only real work there is. Every moment is an opportunity to express Self. Put another way:

"For infinity, the only worthwhile enterprise of a warrior is freedom. Any other enterprise is fraudulent." The Active Side of Infinity, Carlos Castaneda
Only ONE exists.
